Lions Need for Feed
Diamond Valley Lions is proud to support the Lions Need for Feed Project. Since 2006 Need For Feed have been supporting communities and farmers across Victoria.
In December 2006, Founder Graham Cockerell, donated and delivered one truck load of hay which was distributed by Cowwar Toongabbie Lions Club to farmers burnt out in their area. The problem was that it was only 5 small bales of hay for each farmer. Graham returned to his home determined to round up others to help make a difference. Neighbour Barry Medwin, who lost his wife and daughter in the 1983 Ash Wednesday Fires, donated the next semi-trailer load of hay and Graham’s ‘Hot Rodding’ mate Doug Hamilton suggested a Bush Fire Benefit which raised $23.000. A local paper then published a story on the events entitled NEED FOR FEED and so the support group was born!
Every year since we have raised funds for Fire, Drought and Flood Relief. The Need for Feed Project has now gone National!
